From "we never thought you'd be back at work so soon" to Mattman's "I think your head is smaller" I've heard some interesting comments post
gastric bypass surgery. People are so surprised that just two weeks after my weight loss surgery at Catawba Valley Medical Center that I'm not in pain. I feel great. I agree with Margaret, one of my Facebook friends. She said, "I didn't realize how bad Diabetes was making me feel until I didn't have it anymore." Its too early to say I'm in remission but my glucose levels are in the normal range.
As for my surgery scars... you can hardly see them (good work Dr. Cox!).
I'm slowly reintroducing foods back into my diet. This weekend its hello fish and chicken!!! A few months before my procedure, Mattman sent me an article about how lots of families get healthier because mom or dad had the surgery. Its so true!
My mom, Wheezy, is my support person. She too has type 2 diabetes, and don't tell her I typed this, but her doctor says she classifies as morbidly obese. Since I began the pre-surgery fast, mom has lost about 10 pounds and dropped a dress size!
I know things happen when they are supposed to, but I sure wish I'd done this years ago. It took me a long time to realize that I needed serious help... not just someone hired to weigh me once a week or sell me fancy supplements and pre-packaged food. The fact that I needed folks like Libby and Lynn from the Surgical Weight Management Program to help me, doesn't make me a loser... ummm actually it does make me a loser! 20 pounds and counting!
