Men are more than twice as likely as women to underestimate their weight, according to a new social experiment. More than 300,000 people fed their height and weight into a Guardian-conducted online survey that asked people to guess whether they'd be categorized as underweight, healthy, overweight, obese or morbidly obese. And almost one in four men placed themselves in a lower weight range than they actually belonged. In other words, heavy dudes thought they looked fine. Women, on the other hand, tended to overestimate their weight range, with many saying they were overweight even if they were healthy.
