Now THESE are the kind of statistics Matt Harris loves to read. Beer is still the preferred alcoholic beverage of choice for most Americans, according to a new Gallup poll. 41% of Americans drink beer most often, compared to wine (31%) and liquor (23%).
If you break it down by gender, women are more likely to drink wine (46%) while men prefer beer (57%) and liquor (20%). Age also plays a role: adults 18 to 54 prefer beer while adults 55 and older are more likely to drink wine.
The poll also says 64% of Americans say the drink occasionally, consuming an average of 4.1 drinks every week. 36% say they don't drink at all.
