FAME FILES: Morgan Fogarty heading to Al Jazeera

Morgan Fogarty, prime news anchor on WCCB (Channel 18), is joining Al Jazeera America as a New York-based anchor.

Al Jazeera America is the new cable channel being launched in August by the Arab news network. Fogarty’s appointment was announced Thursday by Bob Wheelock, senior executive producer.

Fogarty announced last month she was leaving WCCB after eight years for an undisclosed national television opportunity.

Fogarty came to Charlotte in 2005 from the NBC affiliate in Hagerstown, Md. She worked briefly on WCCB’s station’s morning show, then in 2007 moved up to co-host of “Fox News Edge” with Christopher Frederick, better known as radio’s Brotha Fred, who left at the end of 2010 for Chicago.
