I recently got the opportunity to travel to Orlando to do my show live from the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek and Waldorf Astoria Orlando Resort, and it was such an amazing experience that I don't know where to begin sharing it with you!
I guess I'll start with our amazing Visit Orlando hosts Paul, Debbie, Denise, and Heidi who gave us a whirlwind tour of everything Orlando- and I was beyond impressed to say the least. They took us VIP style to Universal Studios Orlando and The Islands of Adventure where we got to see and do in 3 hours what most people spend a full day experiencing. We felt very spoiled getting to go to the head of the line for the rides- but you can do the same thing! Just schedule your VIP tour when you buy your park tickets. (By the way, you have got to check out the Spiderman 3D ride. THE BOMB! I totally geeked out over the Wizarding World Of Harry Potter....but who wouldn't? And the new Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride is ding dang darn adorable!) I hadn't been to Universal Studios in years so the visit made me feel like a kid again.
We also visited Point Orlando, which is an entertainment complex much like the Epicenter but 5 times the size. I belly danced on a table at Taverna Opa, and ate some delicious Greek food. I loved B.B. King's Restaurant and Blues Club. The food was delicious and the music was amazing. Then we got to have dessert at Cuba Libre where I also enjoyed one of the best Mojitos I've ever had in my life. What a cool place.
There's so much to see and do in and around Orlando, beyond the amazing parks and attractions, yet the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek or Waldorf Astoria also provided us with some RIDICULOUSLY great fine dining and amazing entertainment and activities. Who knew?
Zeta Lounge has, by far, the best sushi I've ever tasted anywhere I've ever traveled. It is so fresh and melt-in-your-mouth delicious that I really wanted to pack some in my suitcase and take it home. Harvest Bistro offers killer breakfast treats, like their died and gone to heaven Nutella & Strawberry French Toast- that I moaned over while eating. (I know, that's rude but I couldn't help myself.) Not to mention their lunches and dinners were just as drool inducing fabulous! Producer Billy says the Harvest Bistro Burger is the most perfectly cooked burger he's ever had. And the fries are really incredible too. Luis. the General Manager, says they have a secret recipe topping for them but we couldn't pry it out of him. Darn you Luis! And I can't believe you sent the carrot cake over. I ate the entire piece and it was better than my moms- but don't tell Senior Citizen Sallie.
Moving on to more of the terrific food I grubbed on while in Orlando, have you ever heard of the Bull and Bear in the Waldorf Astoria New York? Well, they have a Bull and Bear in the Waldorf Astoria Orlando and we got to dine there one night, compliments of our friends at Visit Orlando! I'm going to dream about that Black Grouper and the lemon dessert they serve for years to come. Steak lovers need to book a trip to Orland just to go to the Bull and Bear!
Did I mention we did a lot of drinking while in Orlando? Well, for me it was a lot of drinking because I'm typically a two drink a week woman and I had at least 3 drinks a day while there! Shame Shame! Peacock Alley, which is modeled after the original Peacock Alley in the Waldorf Astoria in New York is a really cool hang at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando. I love their Natural Margaritas which are a low-sugar version of the original drink. YUMMY. We spent a lot of time in the lobby bar at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek
Finally, we went to Dave and Buster's on our last day in town to play and have some fun. I love that place and I had no idea that the Orlando Dave and Buster's is the biggest in the country. I was excited when I won a Chinese Finger Trap with my game tickets, Amelia from our interactive department scored an amazing inflatable hammer which she plans to gift to her fiance Wil, and Billy won a Spiderman first place ribbon in the Daytona USA race between all of the radio personalities from across the country. Amelia and I were so proud of him!
To sum it up, Orland is the bomb-diggity and I will be going back for a visit very soon.
