Is it my imagination or have broadcasters changed the way they say Beijing? Every time I tune in for the games they're constantly comparing events held in London to those held during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and I'm finding myself distracted by the way the capital of China is being pronounced! Back in 2008 I don't recall a single announcer saying, "Here in Be-Djing" with a hard D before the I-N-G. It was pronounced "Be-Zjing" with a soft zzjj sound. Am I wrong? If so, please disregard this brief blog.
