I had surgery and can't drive for a few weeks so I'm stuck getting rides to and from work from my wife. This is the first time in our 10 year marriage that she's driven when we've been out together. Needless to say, I was shocked to find out what a horrible driver she is! She's not just bad, her lack of skills are potentially deadly! For example, when she's in the left turn lane she doesn't stay in the left lane during and after the turn- she floors it while moving into the right lane! She never really fully stops at any stop sign and she's constantly on the phone or playing with the radio while behind the wheel. I'm wondering if there are driving schools that adults with valid licenses can enroll in.
I know that the folks at Doug Herbert Performance Parts runs a charitable organization called BRAKES. They teach teenagers defensive driving techniques so they can be safe behind the wheel. Maybe if you contact BRAKES and explain the situation they'd allow you to pay to have your wife "schooled" a little bit about safety behind the wheel. In the meantime, you need to make her aware that she's scaring the crap out of you and that she needs to be more careful while driving.
Good luck, and wear a helmet!
