I recently found a roommate on Craig's List who seemed to be a really nice and normal gal. When I interviewed with her we clicked right away and everything seemed to be going fine when she first moved in. Then, one day while I was at work, she stole everything I owned and disappeared. I called the police but she had given me a fake name so I doubt there's much they'll be abled to do for me. Do you know how much private detectives cost because I don't have renters insurance and refuse to start replacing all of my belongings before attempting to find her first.
Private detectives charge an hourly rate, and it's not cheap, so the fee for finding your roommate depends on how long it takes to get the job done. Keep in mind, there are no guarantees that the private detective will be able to find the girl so you may end up shelling out several hundred dollars for nothing. I think it's best that you start shopping and take this as a lesson learned. The next time you look for a roommate get a referral from a friend or family member, or hire a private detective to run a background check on them.
So sorry that happened,
