My husband found a puppy that someone had dumped off along side the road and he brought it home. I'm sure I would have done the same thing, but what I wouldn't have done was immediately tell my son that it's his puppy and then let him name it. Instead, I would have rescued the puppy and found it a good home as I don't want to be a dog owner! I'm a stay-at-home mom with a 5 year old and a 2 year old and the last thing I need is another butt to wipe. But how do I tell my son that the puppy has to go?
Really Ticked Off
I know you're going to hate hearing this but I think you should keep the puppy. Reason being, you're obviously out numbered. Your husband must want to have a dog otherwise he wouldn't have pulled a sly one by telling your son the puppy is his and letting him name it. So there's two against one for being a doggy household and, odds are, your two year old would make for three! However, if you agree to keep the dog your husband has to be the one to walk it every night and you need to teach your son how to feed and water him so he can learn responsibility. And, remember, if you ever need a break you can always send him to doggy daycare!
