“Game of Thrones” continues to be one of the most talked-about shows on television, but it might be coming to an end sooner rather than later.
Speaking with “Vanity Fair,” showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss explain their plans to bring the series to a close.
“We know there’s an end somewhere in the seven- or eight-season zone,” Dan Weiss said. “It’s not something that goes ten, eleven – it doesn’t just keep going because it can. I think the desire to milk more out of it is what would eventually kill it, if we gave in to that.”
The pair looked to another critical and commercial hit, “Breaking Bad,” as a model for going out on top. While they had previously estimated eight 10-hour seasons, the possibility of only seven could rile up fans.
With season 4 set to begin on April 6, the show is reaching its mid-point, one way or the other.
