Beyonce is a poet, and she totally knows it.
In a newly released poem titled “Bey the Light” for CR Fashion Book, she writes about the bond she has with her two-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy.
“It’s my daughter, she’s my biggest muse. / There’s someone, we all find out soon / more important than ourselves to lose,” she opens the piece.
Blue Ivy made her very public debut on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards, participating in an adorable family moment when her dad, Jay Z, awarded Bey with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Later in the poem, the “Flawless” singer also dishes on her Sasha Fierce persona, writing, “I learned at a young age, / when I need to tap some extra strength, / to put my persona, Sasha, on stage.”
Bey also previously released a poem in 2012 to celebrate R&B singer Frank Ocean for coming out:
"Be fearless. Be honest. Be generous. Be brave. Be poetic. Be open. Be free. Be yourself. Be in love. Be happy. Be inspiration," she wrote at the time.
