She brought iconic characters like Meredith Grey and Olivia Pope to the now small screen, and now Shonda Rhimes is ready for her close-up.
Rhimes will cameo as herself on the upcoming third season of “The Mindy Project” on FOX, according to TVLine.
The team behind creator-star Mindy Kaling’s sitcom is being tight-lipped on the storyline, but the acclaimed TV writer tweeted about her excitement – and her nerves – about the opportunity.
It’s not as if Rhimes has loads of free time either.
On Thursday, September 25, ABC will debut Shondaland Thursdays, featuring three hours of her programming, including “Grey’s,” “Scandal” and Viola Davis’s “How to Get Away with Murder.”
It’s clear that we now live in an age where TV showrunners can be household names, from Ryan Murphy to Aaron Sorkin, the latter of whom briefly played himself in a “30 Rock” episode.
