“Arrested Development” star Jeffrey Tambor’s groundbreaking new series “Transparent” will arrive next month.
“TV Guide” reports that the new Amazon comedy, which hails from “Afternoon Delight” director Jill Soloway, will bow on September 26.
In the first episode, which was released with Amazon’s second batch of pilots, Tambor’s character came out as transgender to his adult children.
The series will follow his emotional journey, as well as that of his kids – Gaby Hoffmann (“Girls”), Jay Duplass (“The Mindy Project”) and Amy Landecker – as well as his ex-wife (Judith Light).
After the positive reaction to the pilot, the show was picked up for a ten-episode first season, all of which will debut on the same day.
Amazon’s third crop of pilots, including the Selma Blair and Sarah Chalke comedy “Really,” will be unveiled for viewer feedback this Thursday.
