“SNL” fans who felt Andy Samberg abandoned them by joining “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” have reason to rejoice today!
The comedian will be making a movie based on his musical comedy trio, The Lonely Island, according to “The Hollywood Reporter.”
Aside from Samberg, The Lonely Island is made up of Jorma Taccone – who memorably played Marnie’s artist lover Booth Jonathan on “Girls” – and Akiva Schaffer.
Details on the untitled project are minimal, but “THR” reports the film is set “in the music world.”
The group is best known for their musical sketches on “Saturday Night Live,” including “Jack Sparrow” with Michael Bolton and, perhaps mostly famously, “D*** in a Box.”
Samberg’s FOX comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” will return for a second season this fall, moving into a prime post-“Simpsons” timeslot on Sundays at 8:30pm.
But will it be like “Wayne’s World” or more of a “MacGruber”? Get a taste of the group below and drop a comment with your thoughts below!
