Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson put any doubt that they were simply goofballs to bed in HBO’s “True Detective,” and now it might be Vince Vaughn’s turn.

The show is currently gearing up for its second season, which will feature an entirely new cast, and Vaughn is rumored to be in talks for one of the leads, according to TVLine.

Other names that have been bandied about have been Taylor Kitsch and Colin Farrell, but nothing is set in stone.

Vaughn has mostly been seen as a comedic actor for some time. But it’s easy to forget that he’s had serious roles in films here and there, from “Into the Wild” to Gus Van Sant’s shot-for-shot “Psycho” remake.

And with his former “Couples Retreat” co-star Jon Favreau earning rave critical reviews for “Chef,” which he also wrote and directed, the tide could be turning for the “Swingers” crew.

Would you watch Vince in “True Detective? Tell us in the comments!!
