Hilary Duff took a break from “Chasing the Sun” to talk about her split from her husband, Mike Comrie.
Duff opened up to “Billboard” during an episode of their Pop Shop Podcast, where she also spilled the details on her return to music and how her separation factored in.
First, she revealed that there’s a track called “If I Fall,” about her decision to take a step back from acting and singing to spend time with her family.
“And then the other ones are like some party songs, a song about Luca, I mean there’s a song about my separation and my love for this person, that maybe we’re not meant to be together, and maybe we are,” she said. “It’s very, very personal, but I would say that it was a happy spirit to it, which is me.”
The open-endedness with which she speaks about her relationship with Comrie will be familiar to anyone who has seen photos of them out and about and even vacationing together after their public separation.
She shared that the eighth month of her pregnancy with son Luca inspired her to start writing songs again, and it eventually led her to work on her first album in seven years.
