Jack Sparrow lives to plunder another day.
Deadline reports that Disney is planning a fifth installment in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, currently dated for July 7, 2017.
Few details about the film have been announced, though the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced project was nearly scheduled for 2016.
Based on the Disneyland ride of the same name, a trilogy was launched with Johnny Depp as Jack, along with Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom.
Knightley and Bloom bowed out before the fourth installment, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”
Even without them, the flick – which co-starred Penelope Cruz – garnered more than $1 billion worldwide.
With Disney, Depp and Bruckheimer reteamed on last year’s regrettable “The Lone Ranger.”
Hopefully, he’ll have more luck returning to the role of the Mad Hatter in Disney’s upcoming “Alice in Wonderland” sequel, “Through the Looking Glass.”
