SCANDAL - "White Hat's Back On" - With the identity of the mole now closer than ever, Olivia and her team are in very real danger. Meanwhile, the latest White House scandal pushes Cyrus to his limits, on the Season Finale of "Scandal," THURSDAY, MAY 16 (10:02-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Shonda Rhimes
dropped a bombshell on “Scandal” fans this week.

The famed showrunner told “The Hollywood Reporter” that the ABC smash hit, which begins season 4 this fall, will not go on nearly as long as her other TV drama, “Grey’s Anatomy.”

“I think there’s only so much ‘Scandal’ you can tell satisfactorily,” she told “THR.” The Fitz-Liv thing can only be told so long and in such a way. It’s not a 10-season or eight-season show.”

Beyond that, Rhimes confirmed that she knows exactly how long the show will go, though she didn’t divulge that info during the interview.

The writer-creator added that after announcing that Columbus Short would exit the series earlier this summer, his character, Harrison, was going out with a bang – literally.

“His absence will be explained definitively,” she said, referencing Harrison being held at gunpoint in the season 3 finale. “What you think happened to his character happened to his character.”

“Scandal” is back on Thursday, September 25 at 9pm – sandwiched between two of Shonda’s other shows, “Grey’s” and the new Viola Davis-starring “How to Get Away with Murder.”
