Whitney has found her Bobby.
More specifically, Lifetime’s Whitney Houston biopic has cast Arlen Escarpeta as Bobby Brown in the film.
The first promo image of Bobby, along with Whitney – played by “America’s Next Top Model” alum Yaya DaCosta – has been released.
DaCosta is once again dressed like the late singer on her “Whitney” album cover, sporting a white beater with big hair, red lips and a smile.
Bobby is wearing a similar shirt in blue, with his arms wrapped around her. Escarpeta is best known for his series regular role on “American Dreams,” but he has since gone on to star in “We Are Marshall,” “Friday the 13th” and “Final Destination 5.”
This summer, he will recur as Tim Dawkins on Halle Berry’s “Extant,” which airs Wednesdays on CBS.
Angela Bassett is making her directorial debut with the film, which is expected for release in 2015.
The casting of Escarpeta will surely cause as much of a stir as DaCosta’s, with Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, expressing her anger over not being considered for the role before apologizing on Twitter.
