Social media can get ugly, but Selena Gomez just showed her fans the right way to take on the haters.

After one of her fans reportedly wrote a comment wishing someone she was arguing with got cancer, Gomez herself stepped in.

She shared a snapshot on Instagram of the comment she left on the girl’s post with a caption reading, “Honestly, I don’t speak up much because it’s simply *always* taken out of context. But I don’t take bullying well. I have seen too much not to say anything.”

In the actual comment, Gomez writes about having family members and fans who have battled cancer, noting that the bullying statement is “uncalled for.”

This isn’t the first time she’s taken a stand. Back in December, she wrote to another rude fan, “[M]y fans don’t do this to others. That’s not what I stand for so you can gladly stop being a fan of me. I only encourage love, confidence, kindness.”
