No wrongful termination suit here: Columbus Short has no qualms about his firing from ABC’s smash hit “Scandal.”
Short discussed his exit from the Shonda Rhimes-created series with “Access Hollywood,” where he agreed with the decision.
“We’re a family and I think at a certain point when you’re getting a barrage of stories after stories, ABC justifiably would want to distance themselves…” he told Billy Bush (via Zap2it). “They did the right thing but I think it takes time to rebuild.”
When pushed further, he even admitted that he might have a drinking problem.
“To be honest with you, I struggle with medicating with alcohol I think, and that’s a real truth,” he added. “I think that deserves more looking in to.”
Short also addressed his recent assault charge and a 4th of July incident that led to the police being called to a Dallas bar.
His wife has also filed for divorce and filed a restraining order, which he confirmed was in effect. They share a two-year-old daughter.
“Scandal” will return as part of a new Shonda night, sandwiched between “Grey’s Anatomy” and her new drama, the Viola Davis-starring “How to Get Away with Murder.”
