There are spoilers ahead, so don’t bite us if you haven’t watched last night’s episode of “True Blood.”
The third episode in the HBO drama’s final season saw the tragic death of yet another favorite character.
Joe Manganiello’s Alcide was shot to death in one of the final scenes, just two episodes after the surprise death of Tara Thornton.
Manganiello talked to “Entertainment Weekly” about the resident werewolf's departure, and he seemed to be rather unhappy about the way Alcide went out.
“I’m glad it wasn’t a vampire… He hates vampires so much, then he gets taken out by one of them? Is it better to get taken out by a nameless hillbilly?” he told “EW.” “I don’t know. [Laughs] I don’t know what to say.”
Alcide was brought in for the show’s third season and stuck around, even marrying Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) at the end of last season.
Manganiello said he guessed had a target on his back after that twist.
The "Magic Mike" actor then met with showrunner Brian Buckner going into the final season, who explained to him, “You can’t have her break Alcide’s heart, because then people won’ t like Sookie… So it’s the only choice you have, really – you gotta kill him.”
