The 4th of July holiday is a great time to beat the heat and hit the movies. With so many movies coming out around the major box office weekend, it’s hard to keep track.
“Begin Again” – Out in limited release, “Begin Again” tells the story of Keira Knightley’s young musician. Recently dumped by her boyfriend (Adam Levine), she meets a recently-fired producer (Mark Ruffalo) who wants to team up and make both of their lives come true. Catherine Keener, Hailee Steinfeld and CeeLo Green also star. Rated R.
“Deliver Us from Evil” – The latest twist on the exorcism genre comes with an interesting cast, including Eric Bana, Olivia Munn and Joel McHale. Bana plays a detective who discovers unexplained incidents and enlists a priest (Edgar Ramirez) to help stop the evil forces. Rated R.
“Earth to Echo” – A trio of young friends start drifting apart, only to be brought back together when they receive mysterious messages on their phones. The go on one final adventure that gets wilder than they could have ever imaged. The cast of mostly newcomers includes Teo Halm, Brian “Astro” Bradley, Reese Hartwig and Ella Linnea Wahlestedt. Rated PG.
“Tammy” – After “Bridesmaids” skyrocketed to success, Melissa McCarthy has starred in some great comedies (“The Heat”) and iffy ones (“Identity Thief”). Now she’s flipping the script in a comedy she co-wrote with her husband, Ben Falcone. “Tammy also stars Mark Duplass (“Mindy Project”), Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates and Sandra Oh. Rated R.
