Disney is getting witchy with its slate of upcoming movies.
Not only will Meryl Streep play The Witch in December’s “Into the Woods” adaptation, but Deadline is now reporting that Tina Fey has signed on for a supernatural movie.
The as-yet untitled witch project was described to be “in the vein of ‘Ghostbusters.” It’s not the “Hocus Pocus” sequel that was originally rumored, but that doesn’t mean Disney isn’t keeping things within the family.
They have also hired writing partners J. David Stern and David N. Weiss (“Shrek 2”) to pen “Enchanted 2,” a follow-up to the successful 2007 Amy Adams-starrer.
Adams played an animated princess who becomes a real-life human, who happens to have two princes: James Marsden and Patrick Dempsey.
It’s too early to tell if any of the cast will return, but with more than $340 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo), it’s no mystery why a sequel was greenlit.
