The final season of “True Blood” begins this weekend, and while Sookie and Eric might never truly get together, we’ll also never stop hoping for a romantic reunion. Here are 7 TV couples we’ll never stop rooting for:
1. Eric and Sookie, “True Blood”
In a world where vampires are “out of the coffin,” vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) is the law in his corner of the country, and it’s only a moment before he decides that he wants Sookie (Anna Paquin) for himself. In a stubborn push and pull, she and Eric avoid their chemistry as she tries to keep her distance. At least until Eric loses his memory, leading her to finally admit that she likes “Eric 2.0” and begin a short-lived romance. Sookie and company are busy trying to keep a lid on all the supernatural occurrences in Bon Temps, but if she’d just admit her feelings, that’d be one less thing to worry about!
2. Olivia Pope & President Grant, “Scandal”
Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) is able to fix any and every crisis, but when it comes to her love affair with the President of the United States, she’s at a loss.Olivia attempts to be the better person and end their relationship once and for all, but like magnets, these two can’t seem to stay away from each other. While Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) is trapped in a political marriage that’s all for show, the two survive on secret phone calls and stolen glances, but it’s not enough! Olivia is the love of Fitz’s life, and we’re all waiting with bated breath until they’re reunited for good.
3. Schmidt and Cece, “New Girl”
While Schmidt (Max Greenfield) was immediately attracted to Cece (Hannah Simone), it took her a while to warm up to his… unique personality. Their attempt to cook Thanksgiving dinner together in season 1proved that Cece may be the only one who can curb Schmidt’s neuroses. While Schmidt has a thing for being accidentally inappropriate and Cece can sometimes be too honest, as a couple, their imperfections make them perfectly suited for each other. These two are a mash-up of personalities and insecurities, and it’s amazing to watch.
4. Mindy and Danny Castellano, “The Mindy Project”
First there’s Mindy (Mindy Kaling), a hopeless romantic and chronic over-thinker; then there’s Danny (Chris Messina), the cynical divorcee. Of course they’d make the perfect pair! Hebrings her back down to reality when her head is in the clouds, while she forces him to see that not everything in life is quite so bad. As friends, the two bring out the best in each other but have somehow missed the mark romantically. Following a passionate mid-flight kiss and the ensuing breakup, they seemed to couple up for good in the finale, but is it too good to be true?
5. Klaus and Caroline, “The Vampire Diaries”
Caroline (Candice Accola), former Miss Mystic Falls and event planner extraordinaire, had to put a lot of water under the bridge to get together with Klaus (Joseph Morgan). Klaus was never shy about his love for Caroline and vowed to show her the world, saying that her small town life (and boyfriend) would never be enough. Despite leaving for the hit spinoff, “The Originals,” the deadly hybrid finally called Caroline out on her feelings for him in the show’s 100th episode. But their happiness was short-lived, as Klaus headed back to New Orleans and she continued her life in Mystic Falls. Fingers crossed for a reunion in The French Quarter!
6. Emily and Jack, “Revenge”
What began as puppy love between Amanda Clarke and Jack Porter became way more complicated when Amanda returned 17 years later as Emily Thorne(Emily VanCamp) with plans to take down those responsible for her father’s imprisonment. Emily could never tell Jack (Nick Weschler) her real identity, but that didn’t stop her from pining from afar or keep him from falling for a girl (he thought) he barely knew. Unfortunately, when the real Emily blew into town, posing as Amanda, our anti-heroine couldn’t tell him the truth until the end of season 2. While the convoluted couple still hasn’t made it work a whole season later, sharing the whole truth is a step in the right direction!
7. Oliver and Felicity, “Arrow”
Who would’ve thought a tech genius and Starling City’s favorite Vigilante would make such a great team? When Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) recruited Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) to join “Team Arrow,” he went from avenging archer to actual hero. As she acts as a tether to his humanity, reminding him that he’s not just The Hood, the two have become much more than associates. While there’s no official count of how many times Oliver’s saved Felicity’s life (or vice versa), he knows that she’ll always have his back no matter how dangerous the circumstances.
