Not everyone is excited that Aaliyah will be the subject of a Lifetime biopic.

TMZ reports that the singer’s family is trying to stop the film, in large part because they were not asked for their input on “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.”

Her uncle, who also served as Aaliyah’s manager, allegedly hopes to stop the cable network from using her music, and in a perfect world, from making the movie at all.

The official press release suggested that Zendaya (“Shake It Up”), a Disney star who both sings and acts, was to record four songs from Aaliyah’s catalogue.

Aaliyah is most recent late singer who will get the Lifetime treatment, as Angela Bassett announced plans to direct a Whitney Houston biopic for the network starring Yaya Dacosta (“America’s Next Top Model”).

“Princess of R&B” is set to film this summer ahead of a fall debut, so her family will have to act fast if they hope to stop production.
