Every once in a while, a show has fan base so passionate and vocal that it can survive after being cancelled.
“Cougar Town” did it, “Arrested Development” did it, and now “Community” aims to do the same.
The show, which has the mantra “six seasons and a movie,” was axed after five seasons, but according to the “Hollywood Reporter,” Hulu is in talks to pick it up for another season.
The team at Sony Pictures Television, which produces the show, has actively been looking for a new home, the same way they lobbied for a season 5 renewal that was tied into several other NBC pickups.
“You can’t get to six seasons and a movie without six seasons,” Sony Pictures Television’s Jamie Erlicht told “THR.” “We, more than any other studios, fight for shows that we believe in.”
Nothing is a done deal, so don’t get your hopes up yet. “Happy Endings” was nearly rescued by USA before a deal fell through.
