FOX is going dark with their fall schedule.

In fact, the broadcast network has picked up a new drama starring the Dark Knight himself: Batman.

Technically, “Gotham” stars a young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), but the origin story stars the future Caped Crusader after the tragic murder of his parents.

He is mentored by future Commissioner James Gordon (Ben McKenzie, “The O.C.”) in the seedy city that many supervillains will later call home.

At present, Jada Pinkett Smith’s Fish Mooney is at the top of the list, but as you can see by the trailer, “Gotham” ambitiously plans to tell the origin stories of the Penguin, Catwoman, Poison Ivy and more.

Sean Pertwee also stars as Alfred Pennyworth, alongside Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock in the show, which will premiere this fall on FOX.

Batman has seen a renaissance in recent years, starting with Christopher Nolan’s game-changing trilogy and leading into Ben Affleck’s future in the role in the forthcoming “Man of Steel” sequel.
