FOX will be a little less “Glee”-ful this spring.
The network has confirmed that the musical comedy series’ episode order has been trimmed by two, bringing the season 5 total to 20 episodes.
According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” the move is a result of the production hiatus at the start of the season, which was agreed to as an accommodation following the loss of series star Cory Monteith.
As such, the Ryan Murphy hit aired just three installments at the start of the 2013-2014 TV season before returning in late fall.
“Glee” has been renewed for a sixth season, which will focus on the characters in New York. The shift was made this season after the 100th episode to leave the Lima, Ohio setting behind.
“THR” notes that those two episodes could be tacked on to the season 6 order for a 24-episode final run.
