It’s been a rocky season for talk shows across the TV landscape, with Piers Morgan getting the boot and Sam Champion jumping ship to the Weather Channel.
Now two more high-profile talk show stars are aiming to defect, with “Good Morning America” anchor Josh Elliott departing the top-rated morning show for a position at NBC Sports, “USA Today” reports.
In his place, ABC News’ Amy Robach, who has been vocal about her battle with breast cancer, has reportedly been selected as his replacement.
As for the world of late night, Chelsea Handler is believed to be planning her exit from her E! talk show “Chelsea Lately” after eight years.
Her manager tells “The Hollywood Reporter” that she “intends to leave” when her contract is up at the end of 2014, stating, “We have at least seven suitors and many ideas.”
Those ideas include a possible move to radio along with another show on another network, among other things.
E! told “THR,” Chelsea has nine months left on her contract and E! will not comment on the future of ‘Chelsea Lately’ at this time.”
