Jem is excitement! Jem is adventure! Jem is headed for the big screen!
Music manager Scooter Braun is producing a live-action adaptation legendary ‘80s cartoon “Jem and the Holograms.”
Braun, who manages top pop talent like Justin Bieber, The Wanted and Carly Rae Jepsen, is teaming up with Jon M. Chu (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation) and producer Jason Blum, MTV News reports.
The trio announced the news in a YouTube video, revealing that they are hoping to cast the project using Tumblr.
Their efforts seem legitimate, and they’ve already set up an official page for “Jem The Movie,” where they are accepting video submissions and casting suggestions.
Running in the mid-‘80s, the animated series centered on Jerrica Benton, a young girl in foster care who inherits a fortune and moonlights as Jem, a mysterious singing sensation who performs with her band, The Holograms.
Perhaps Carly Rae can play Jem? Maybe Justin will take on the role of her beau, Rio? Dream cast the new “Jem” movie in the comments!
