John Travolta’s flubbing of Idina Menzel’s name will go in Oscar history, but the actor is ensuring that there’s no bad blood between them.
After speaking out publicly about how embarrassed he was by the error, he reportedly sent Menzel – also known as “Adele Dazeem” – a bouquet of flowers at her new Broadway show, “If/Then,” according to E! News.
“He sent her a big, gorgeous bouquet of flowers to her dressing room. It was HUGE,” an insider tells E!. “It was his apology to her.”
The mispronunciation caused uproar online, spawning GIFs and memes galore. Not to mention Slate’s Adele Dazeem Name Generator, in which people are invited to “Travoltify” their names.
Travolta’s goof happened as he was introducing Menzel to perform the breakout hit from Disney’s “Frozen,” the power ballad “Let It Go.”
“I’ve been beating myself up all day. Then I thought … what would Idina Menzel say, She’d say, Let it go, let it go!” he said in a statement (via TODAY). “Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night.”
