Disney isn’t ready to leave the “Cars” franchise in its rearview mirror.
The company announced this week that they are already planning for a third installment in the franchise, a follow-up to 2011’s “Cars 2.”
In even bigger news, Variety reports that the long-in-development sequel to “The Incredibles” is finally being written.
Brad Bird, who helped adapt Disney’s Tomorrowland theme land into a feature film of the same name, is penning the script.
Ahead of the second installment’s theatrical release, Disney will reportedly re-release the first “Incredibles” film in 3D, along with “Ratatouille.”
A highly-anticipated sequel to “Finding Nemo” titled “Finding Dory” is already scheduled to hit theaters in 2016, while “Planes: Fire and Rescue” will debut in July.
Disney recently found tremendous success with a non-sequel release, “Frozen,” which bowed to critical acclaim and has grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
