Colin Firth is well-versed in taking real-life tales to the big screen.
After winning an Oscar for “The King’s Speech,” Firth will co-star in another film based on a true story, this time focusing on the sensationalized 1993 “West Memphis Three” legal case and its aftermath.
In the new trailer for “Devil’s Knot” (via Deadline), he stars as a lawyer who takes on the case of the teens who were arrested in the deaths of three 8-year-old boys in Arkansas.
The legal case went on for two decades, with the accused spending years after prison before being released.
While the film is based on the true crime book “Devil’s Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three,” the situation also inspired three HBO docufilms, called the “Paradise Lost” series.
Reese Witherspoon, Dane DeHaan (“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”), Mireille Enos (“The Killing”), Amy Ryan and “True Blood” actor Stephen Moyer also star.
“Devil’s Knot” will reach theaters on March 9. What did you make of the trailer? Let us know what you think in the comments!
