Much has been made of the fact that “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” appears to have an endless roster of villains, from Electro to the Green Goblin to the Rhino.
Yet director Marc Webb tells “The Hollywood Reporter” that there will not be too many villains, claiming that Paul Giamatti’s role of the Rhino has been overblown.
Webb says that Giamatti’s character is only “in the movie for four minutes,” despite the fact that he has been featured heavily in past posters and promotional images.
“We’re obviously familiar with the complaints people had,” he said, in regard to “villain overcrowding.” “We’re very careful to make sure the stories intertwine. For Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), it’s very important that you create obstacles that are difficult to overcome.”
That will leave plenty more screen time for Jamie Foxx's Electro and for Dane DeHaan's Harry Osborn to transform into the Green Goblin.
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will reach theaters in May. Does this quash your concerns about the villains or do you wish one of the other villains would have been benched? Let us know in the comments!
