A big birthday shout-out to Ke$ha, who celebrates her 27th birthday today!
Born Kesha Rose Sebert, the birthday girl was thrown into a musical lifestyle from a young age.
At age four, the singer moved to Nashville with her mother, a successful songwriter in her own right, who would let her young daughter sing over the productions she was working on for practice.
Ke$ha eventually dropped out of high school at 17 and moved back to L.A. to start her own music career, when she met Dr. Luke and was signed to a record deal.
Her rise to fame first began when she sang the female vocal part on Flo Rida’s “Right Round,” which became a no. 1 Hot 100 hit.
In 2010, she released her debut album, “Animal,” under RCA Records. The album was an immediate hit and peaked at no. 1 one on the Billboard 200, featuring the now-iconic single “Tik Tok,” which also topped the Billboard charts.
On the heels of the success of her first album, Ke$ha dropped her smash EP, “Cannibal,” before releasing her follow-up album, “Warrior,” in 2012. Late last year, she returned to top the charts with “Timber,” a no. 1 hit on which she partnered with Pitbull.
In early January, the pop singer postponed her tour to enter rehab, opening up to her fans about living with an eating disorder. Ke$ha is continuing to work on her health, so she can come back stronger and better than ever later this year!
So happy birthday to Ke$ha and best wishes for a great 2014!
