With so many movies being released throughout the year, it can be hard to keep track. To help, check out our preview of the movies that are opening this weekend:
“Non-Stop” – Liam Neeson is back in another high-octane thriller, this time trying to take down the bad guys during an extremely turbulent plane ride. Taking the ride with him is Julianne Moore as another passenger, as well as Michelle Dockery (“Downton Abbey”) and “12 Years a Slave” actress Lupita Nyong’o. With a cast that good, you’re guaranteed to enjoy the ride. Rated PG-13.
“The Son of God” – Diogo Morgado (“Revenge”) will play Jesus in this film, a big-screen adaptation of scenes from the hit TV miniseries “The Bible.” The story follows his life from birth to his teachings and, ultimately, his death. The cast also includes “Touched By an Angel” star Roma Downey as Mother Mary. Rated PG-13.
“The Wind Rises” – This animated film opened in limited release last weekend before expanding to more theaters. From acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki in what he says is his last movie, this film follows a young Japanese man (voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) in the 1920s. He becomes enamored of engineering, and the story follows his life amidst the tumultuous times in Japan during that era. Rated PG-13.
