Ellen DeGeneres has a very simple approach going in to host the Oscars for the second time: to kill the audience with kindness.
The beloved talk show host sat down with Robin Roberts on “Good Morning America” about hosting the film awards for the second time, and her approach is a tad different from Seth MacFarlane’s.
“It’s just never been my humor to ever get a laugh at someone else’s expense,” she told Roberts (via “NY Daily News”). “So there’s never going to be a mean joke or anybody’s going to get hurt… But it’s important to me to relax everybody because there’s so much anxiety in the room.”
Ellen first hosted the Academy Awards in 2007, and along with this weekend’s award ceremony, she’s also taking her daytime show live on Monday, March 3.
