Is Ron Burgundy going to space? Not exactly, but that is the concept for a potential new NBC comedy from the team behind the “Anchorman” movies.
Deadline reports that Krysten Ritter has signed on to star in and produce “Mission Control,” a new pilot for NBC set during the space race of the 1960s.
Ritter will play a strong woman who finds herself in constant conflict with a Ron Burgundy-esque astronaut.
The male lead has not yet been cast, but scoring Ritter is a bit of a coup for the pilot, which comes from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.
Since her breakout role in “Breaking Bad,” the actress has been hotly pursued, and with the cancellation of “Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23,” she was back on the market this pilot season.
Ritter will next hit the big screen in the “Veronica Mars” movie, once again playing Gia Goodman.
