Chris Brown got a major break in his latest brush with the law this week.
The 24-year-old singer, who was facing an assault charge stemming from an incident in Washington, D.C., is reportedly not facing jail time any longer.
According to Reuters, a Los Angeles judge instead suggested that Brown stick to the rehab facility where he is receiving treatment for anger management and alleged substance abuse.
The judge called the program, in which the musician had been sentenced to 90 days, an “adequate safety net.”
Brown has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor assault charges, and he is still on probation for the 2009 assault of Rihanna.
ABC News reports that the judge revealed comments from probation officials claiming that he “appears to have a more serious and responsible demeanor” since entering treatment.
Brown has completed nearly one-fifth of his 1,000 hours of community service, and he will return to court at the end of the month.
