With so many movies being released throughout the year, it can be hard to keep track. To help, check out our preview of the movies that are opening this weekend:
“I, Frankenstein”: Aaron Eckhart takes on the famed creation of Dr. Frankenstein in a new twist on the literary classic. Going by the name of Adam, the film follows him 200 years after his creation, when in the course of a supernatural war he “discovers he holds the key that could destroy mankind.” “I, Frankenstein” also stars Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski (“Dexter”), Jai Courtney (“Spartacus: Blood & Sand”) and Miranda Otto. Rated PG-13.
“Gimme Shelter”: Be warned, even in a post-“Spring Breakers” world, this is not your average Vanessa Hudgens film. Hudgens plays Apple, a pregnant 16-year-old girl who moves into a homeless shelter for teens. According to the official release, she finds comfort and begins to “embrace her future with clarity, maturity and hope not only for herself but her unborn child.” Brendan Fraser, Rosario Dawson and James Earl Jones also star. Out in limited release, rated PG-13.
