Anne Hathaway continues to be one of the biggest lighting rods in Hollywood, and she’s well aware of that status.
In fact, she stayed out of the public eye throughout most of 2013 to give her critics a break.
Speaking with “The Huffington Post” about her new film at Sundance, she explained why she took a step back after winning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for “Les Miserables.”
“My impression is that people needed a break from me,” she said with a laugh.
Her only real on-screen role last year was a cameo in Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut, “Don Jon,” playing an A-list star in a faux rom-com opposite Channing Tatum.
Hathaway attended Sundance to promote her new film, a musical called “Song One.” She will also appear on the silver screen next fall in Christopher Nolan’s (“Inception”) new feature, “Interstellar.”
