Gru and the kids will be back in 2017 for a third time in “Despicable Me 3,” and that same year marks the return of an iconic holiday favorite.
“Despicable Me 3” will be released on June 30, 2017, and though the cast has not yet been released, it’s safe to say that Steve Carell will be back.
Variety reports that Universal has also announced a new animated version of “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” which will debut on November 17, 2017.
Though the original animated special is a perennial favorite, while Jim Carrey’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” has become something of a modern classic.
The new “Grinch” adaptation marks the most recent animated film based on a classic Dr. Seuss story, joining 2008’s “Horton Hears a Who!” and “The Lorax” in 2012.
The studio revealed plans for an untitled animated comedy “about courage, competition and carrying a tune,” which will bow in 2016.
