Robin Roberts has had a big year, recovering from a bone marrow transplant and returning to her job on “Good Morning America.”
Now the broadcaster has gone public about her sexuality, acknowledging her girlfriend of several years, believed to be a massage therapist named Amber Laign, according to CNN.
In a Facebook message, she took a moment to thank her friends and family and reflect on year since she “reached a critical milestone of 100 days post transplant” on December 29, 2012.
“I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life,” she wrote. “I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.”
While the “GMA” anchor has kept her sexual orientation private, she reportedly met her girlfriend “through mutual friends a decade ago.”
Roberts continued by expressing gratitude for all of the prayers from fans over the past year, wishing everyone a happy New Year.
