Beyonce is probably riding high after her surprise album topped the Billboard 200 two weeks running.

Yet the musician is at the center of a bit of a scandal surrounding one of the self-titled visual album’s songs, “XO.”

ABC News reports that the song has been criticized for its six-second sampling of audio from the 1986 Challenger explosion at the beginning of the track.”

June Scobee Rodgers, the widow of Challenger Commander Dick Scobee, told ABC that she was “disappointed” by the clip’s inclusion in the song.

“The moment included in this song is an emotionally difficult one for the Challenger families, colleagues and friends,” she said. “We have always chosen to focus not on how our loved ones were lost, but rather on how they lived and how their legacy lives on today.”

For her part, Beyonce says the audio was meant as a tribute and was not meant to be insensitive.

“My heart goes out to the families of those lost in the Challenger disaster,” she said in a statement to ABC News. “The song ‘XO’ was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen, so love and appreciate every minute that you have with those who mean the most to you.”
