NBC is getting a jump on the fall 2014 TV season with the early renewal of freshman hit “The Blacklist.”
The drama, which stars James Spader as CIA asset Red Reddington, has received a 22-episode season 2 order, according to the official release.
“The success of ‘The Blacklist’ demonstrates that inspired storytelling is alive and well in broadcast television, and I’m impressed on a daily basis by this creative team’s imagination and the extent to which they will go to capture this grand vision on film,” NBC Entertainment Chair Robert Greenblatt said.
The series also stars Megan Boone as a fresh-faced agent tasked with working with Reddington upon his insistence, with Diego Klattenhoff (“Homeland”), Harry Lennix (“Dollhouse”), Ryan Eggold (“90210”) and “ER” actress Parminder Nagra.
“The Blacklist” airs Monday nights at 10pm on NBC. The show will air encores through the rest of 2013 before returning with new episodes on Monday, January 13.
