When it comes to the upcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” film adaptation, everything has been in a state of flux.

One star exited the project and now the release date has been pushed, so the book’s author, E.L. James, has every right to feel a little nervous, or – in her own words – “terrified.”

“I’m terrified. Completely. I’ve been terrified from the moment I published the book,” she tells “Entertainment Weekly,” adding, “You don’t expect this kind of success. Even now it floors me. My only ambition for the books was to see them in bookstores. This is huge. And there is this passionate fandom; we need to get this right for them.”

While James adds that she feels a responsibility to her fandom, the film’s new Christian Grey, actor Jamie Dornan, isn’t sweating the small stuff.

“I certainly don’t feat it,” he tells “EW” when asked about the high-profile role. “I already got a glimpse into working with [director] Sam [Taylor-Johnson] at the test, and I’d met [co-star] Dakota [Johnson] by then. So I had a glimpse into how I felt it would be if I got the part. None of it scared me.”

“Fifty Shades” is set to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day 2015.
