With the third season of “The X Factor” winding down, FOX’s reality heavyweight “American Idol” is on its way back in.
When the singing competition series returns with its new judges’ panel in January, in some ways, it will feel like a return to form.
The first trailer for season 13 gives viewers an inside look at the show’s auditions, which promise to be just as simultaneously batty and inspiring as usual.
Along with Keith Urban, who is back for a second season, will be frequent “Idol” mentor Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez, returning for a third season after a one-year respite.
Though the casting announcements weren’t as flashy as last year, with Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey stepping down after one season, the new panel might be just what the show needs.
“American Idol” returns for its new season with a two-night premiere on Wednesday, January 15 and Thursday, January 16. What do you think of the new lineup of judges?
