Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen may live on in the minds of millions as the adorable twins on the big screen or as Michelle on “Full House,” but it will have to stay that way.
In a new interview with “Women’s Wear Daily,” the child stars-turned-designers have said pretty definitively that they feel no desire to return to the world of filmmaking and in fact never really felt like it was their home to begin with.
“With what we were doing in business when we were younger, I don’t think it ever felt like we were actresses – because we spent so much more of our time not in front of the cameras, building a brand,” Mary-Kate told “WWD.”
While the twins have made a name for themselves as high-end fashion designers with their clothing company, The Row, they aren’t afraid to look back.
“We have a video catalogue of everything we did when we were younger, so we’re looking at distribution for that now,” Ashley said. “That’s not being in show business, but it’s been fun talking to these people we used to be in business with many, many years ago.”
Mary-Kate adds that while they still feel “welcome in the [entertainment] industry,” she adds, “it’s not the one we’re in.”
