On the heels of ABC’s successful launch of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Netflix is hoping to get in on the action.
The streaming service has announced four new live-action superhero series that will debut in 2015, all of which will “lead up to one big miniseries event titled ‘The Defenders,’ according to E! News.
The four series will center individually on Marvel heroes including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage.
Daredevil, known for the film adaptation starring Ben Affleck, is first up, with a 13-episode launch planned for 2015.
In other Netflix news, “Lilyhammer” will return with an eight-episode second season on December 13, once again starring “The Sopranos” star Steven Van Zandt as a mob fixer, Zap2it reports.
Next up on its roster, Netflix’s “House of Cards” is expected to return in 2014, with “Orange Is the New Black” and “Hemlock Grove” also returning with new seasons next year.
